Buying property at home can be difficult enough so, should you decide to buy property in Turkey, you need to be prepared for a whole range of new challenges! And one of the most important factors in buying any house, is the estate agent that you choose to work with.
Foremost, you need to make sure that the estate agent you choose is registered. In Turkey this means that they person you use needs to be associated with the either the Federation of Turkish Estate Agents, or the Real Estate Association for the area or region that you are buying in.
It’s also equally important to find someone who is going to take the time to understand your needs and, in turn, help you to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes! If they are worth their weight in gold, they will know about the schools, the best utility providers, the best health clinics, and even when the bins get collected!
It’s also useful to know that Turkey recently has reduced property limits for foreigners wanting to gain Turkish citizenship, lowing the threshold from $1 million to $250,000, meaning that if you purchase a property for $250,000 or more, you are automatically entitled to apply.
